Education is a tool for development and development of the marginalized is a need. BDVS has been working for Musahar communities particularly in the sector of leadership, education and child development. One of the basic hurdles to the children of most economically deprived communities is the huge school dropout rate. This is partly due to the fact that first generation learners find little parental support to help them with home study, because the parents have low educational levels, or are just too poor to cope.

BDVS unit in Munger runs ten complementary education centres for the children of the Musahar community at Haveli Kharagpur, supported by Caritas India.

The centres provide supplementary learning and help the children with after school learning support and tuition so as to improve their learning levels and enhance their competencies. This is invaluable for the children, and gives them confidence as they are able to keep up with other children in the school.

BDVS provided teaching learning materials to all the CECs during an evaluation meeting.
