A well designed training was conducted for Dalit youth leaders particularly on Right to Information Act (RTI). The program period was 9th April to 11th April 2017, at the BDVS Patna office premises. At least 43 youth leaders had actively participated and learned the significance of Right to Information Act, Right to Information Act as a right, how to use it and the process and obligations of the authorities.
Mr. Hritik was the main resource person from Jeevan Jyoti organization having more than 10 years of experience in running right to food and Right to Information campaigns across Bihar. He led the group in an effective manner. He included many games and exercises along with written practical work. He facilitated the youths to understand the subject in an effective manner and helped them to prepare a sample RTI draft/ application. It enhanced the confidence of youths in dealing with panchayat issues or development authorities.
In the concluding session director Fr. Anto Joseph addressed the youth leaders. He encouraged the youths with a soft heart touching speech. He told Dalit youths are no more behind the darkness. They are energetic and they can do what others are doing. Dalit youths should come together and find out the ways of changing their present unpleasing situations. There should be a Dalit Yuva Sakti (Dalit youth power) to participate in panchayat development directly or indirectly. He appealed the leaders to use the right and let others know about the advantages of RTI.
