Inefficiency in Public Distribution System
Lok Manch organized a workshop with its members of 3 states Bihar, Delhi and Uttarakhand in BDVS administrative office, Patna. The workshop was organized from 18th June to 28th June. In total 33 people participated in the meeting involving Bihar, Delhi and Uttarakhand Coordinators, Unit Coordinators, Campaign Facilitator, Capacity Builders, Lok Manch facilitating partner.
Lok Manch did a survey of 24,000 families questioning about the problems they face in the process of getting new Ration cards. The survey also focused on problems created due to inefficiency in Public Distribution System based on the experience of volunteers in last 3 years. .
Thus the purpose of the meeting was to plan advocacy campaign from grass root to state level. The motive was to draw attention of government towards plenty of irregularity in Public Distribution System, delay in new Ration Cards (however the provision is to provide it in 30 days) and failure of grievances cell. .
Resource people Vijay Parmar (freelance consultant of Gujarat) and Fr. Sunny Bhai (national advisor from Delhi) put in their thoughts and experience in the meeting. The participants understood about campaign, how to execute campaign at different levels and how to inculcate constitutional values in people through a group discussion. The meeting aimed at creating road map for making the government hear the problems the villagers are facing. .
