Some 250 children from 50 groups of Bihar Dalit Vikas Samiti “Ambedkar Prerna Kendra” received training in the districts of Samastipur, Barbigha, and Barh. The one-day training was imparted to 5 representatives from each of the 50 groups of APK, spread across nine Panchayats in the three districts. The training sessions were held on 30th May, 2nd June, and 6th June respectively.

Apart from motivational exercises and inputs given by the BDVS team led by the director FrAnto Joseph SJ, the participants were taught slogans on quality education (Gunawat Shiksha). The student representatives were taught procedures for conducting the meetings of the APK which would be organized twice a month in their groups.

The training culminated with an oath taking ceremony where the children promised to [a] attend school regularly [b] do their homework and engage in self-study[c] to attend the APK meetings twice a month [d] to learn at least 15 General Knowledge facts every month [e]to write an essay or a poem once a month and [f]to be clean and dress neatly.

The children were advised to follow the values of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the founding father of the Constitution of India.
