Bihar Dalit Vikas Samiti has been working in 10 government schools of Kharagpur block since 2014 especially in the sector of quality education.

On 2nd February 2018 BDVS had organized one day meeting for government school teachers of Kharagpur. The program started with the welcoming speech of Mr. Harsh Kumar (Panchayat Facilitator). He also presented the core objective of the meeting.

Teachers presented the on-going situation of Dalit children and about their performance in the school. According to the teachers some student are doing very well but some are irregular and needs attention.

BDVS proposed that BDVS could initiate a system of tracing absentee children and make them regular. They discussed several options and with a serious concern BDVS finalized to establish a student help desk in the 10 government schools. Very soon BDVS is going to work on this. Teachers were encouraged to follow their duty and maintain school norms. This meeting was facilitated by Mr. Birendra, documented by Mr. Sailendra Kumar and was chaired by Sister Manisha.

The core objective of this intervention was to ensure effective implementation of RTE Act-2009 and to sensitize the teachers toward RTE indicators and other government provisions for the children.

The meeting was quite successful and was appreciated by local BEO for taking the initiative to bring the teachers in one platform to discuss about the ground realities.
